Born and raised in Malaysia, Izan Tahir gained a Bachelor of Arts degree at the London College of Communication, now a constituent college of the University of the Arts London. She then worked as a designer in London with the late Terence Conran, an authority in British design, eventually managing an international portfolio.
Over the past three decades, Izan has re-directed her focus to printmaking, where her artistic expression shows strong graphic sensibilities. She has exhibited widely worldwide, receiving commissions for both public and private collections. She has also mentored fine art students at the tertiary level as interns at her studio. Currently, Izan divides her time between the UK and Malaysia, where she continues an ongoing dialogue with the print medium
